Trying out tan

Another first - tangling on tan. Really not sure whether I like this or not. I coloured the gems reddish orange first, then the Danzer pattern in red. But that really clashed so I tried to make Danzer more orange to match, which seemed a bit better. I think the problem is a lack of tonal range - will try again with different tangles.

Gems on a black tile seem quite tricky too - definitely get a different effect. Might add some more tangles around this one.

Well well well, zen gems are fun!

First tangle with coloured pencils, including zen gems - great fun! Can't wait to do more 😀

Trying out colour!

I was lucky enough to receive lots of art goodies for my birthday. This is just a quick play with the gelly roll pens - white, silver, gold and fluorescent green, blue and purple, with a bit of white charcoal shading, on a black tile. Looking forward to trying more!

Dewd, Hollibaugh-style

Another one for the 'Square One' focus on Dewd. Not entirely happy with how it looks - few too many Dewd strands I think, and the shading needs work as it's quite messy. Might have looked better with the background filled black.

Tangled shell

Went for a lovely walk on the beach with the kids this afternoon. Loads of shells around, so I collected a few to have a go at tangling them. This it's my first attempt - good fun, so will definitely give it another go!

ONE focus: Dewd

This week's Square One focus is on Dewd, the new tangle fromthe first Zentangle Project pack. I started with Andante, then added Dewd appearing to emerge from it. Then I made the spirals of Andante into Ammon, before shading.

Waybop

This started off as a rather rushed practice of Waybop, an official tangle I haven't tried before. Then when it was done I thought it would look good with Umble in the middle. Diva dance followed, with Printemps and tiny Tipple to finish. Shading brings it to life, as always.
